Root Canal Diagnostic
Root Canal Diagnostic
When the pulp in a tooth gets infected, root canal therapy becomes essential to save the tooth. Before we can determine root canal is the right procedure for your dental problem, we will conduct root canal diagnosis. The diagnosis further helps us determine whether you need root canal therapy, retreatment, or oral surgery. This involves the use of multiple evaluations and tests. At Doral Dental Specialty Center, we provide comprehensive dental treatments and services in the Doral and Miami areas.
Symptoms Assessment
- The affected tooth is sensitive to hot or cold
- The area around the tooth has swelling
- The tooth hurts with pressure or biting
- There is a bad taste in your mouth
- There is severe and throbbing tooth pain, especially when you lie down
Using Radiographs
The use of radiographs such as X-rays plays an important role in root canal diagnostics. We will take multiple images of different teeth to get the essential diagnostic information. Radiographs help determine any infection to the surrounding bone. If required, may also get a CBCT scan for 3D information on the tissue.
If we find an infection, we will discuss root canal therapy to help remove it and save your tooth. An infection must be treated in time to prevent it from spreading through the root tips and reaching the jawbone. The sooner an infected tooth is treated, the better it is for your overall health.
